CollabTalk LLC is partnering with the Brigham Young University Marriott School of Management to conduct a formal study of cyber-security concerns within Office 365 and the Microsoft Cloud that may affect adoption of Microsoft services, and impact / delay movement of on-premises customers to the Microsoft Cloud. This independent research is being sponsored by the AvePoint, along with Solliance, Rencore, and leading Microsoft partners.

Microsoft’s Office 365 and Azure platforms are among the fastest growing cloud environments on the market, and yet even with record-setting growth, the pace of migration from long-time on-premises customers, especially within the SharePoint community, is slower than had been forecast. Online security remains the top concern of these organizations.  The goal of the research is to provide research, marketing, and recommendations to the project sponsors on the issues, challenges, and blockers associated with the adoption of Office 365 and Microsoft Cloud technology due to cyber-security concerns.

Research Methodology

Conducted in partnership with the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, the research includes a wide range of global business research tools, including Qualtrics survey and post-analysis tools, Bloomberg terminals, Geo-Spatial Software and Data, and access to more than 400 databases including LexisNexis Academic, Factiva, ProQuest, BizMiner, Morningstar, IBIS World, Mergent Online, ORBIS, GuideStar, EBSCO, EDGAR, Wharton Research Data Services, Mint Global, S&P NetAdvatnage, and more.

Each CollabTalk research project follows a phased approach:

  • Phase 1-Secondary Research: Conduct industry research to identify a baseline for the topic, identifying common pitfalls and best practices.
  • Phase 2-Primary Research: Survey target customers or respondents to assess their current state, strategies implemented, and effectiveness of those actions.
  • Phase 3-Industry Expert Review: Conduct one-on-one and panel interviews with industry experts, consultants, and influencers.
  • Phase 4-Analysis and Recommendations: Distill insights and findings, and make recommendations in the form of a final research paper, including supporting data models and other supporting material.
